Pat Wasserboehr teaches sculpture and drawing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and served as Head of Department from 1998 to 2010. Her sculptures have been represented in art museums, centers and galleries throughout the United States and in China, Italy, Germany, and Spain. This is her third summer as an artist- in-residence with the Digital Stone Project in Gramolazzo, Italy. She is a participant in the Salem2Salem exchange program in Salem, New York, and Salem, Germany in 2017 and 2018.
Pat Wasserboehr's abstract sculptures evoke gesture, calligraphy, and anatomical shapes, and at other times suggest mysterious ancient objects. As a professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro her career as a sculptor has been long, serious, and distinguished. Yet any description of her sculpture would be incomplete without mentioning its faint trace of humor, a subtle playfulness, and whimsy.
